COREY FORD, also known as “StylesByHim”, has developed a fan base for his innovative and trendsetting hairstyles. Corey has devoted his career to the artistry of hair design by transforming lives with his eye for style and gifted hands.
A native of Baytown, TX, Corey overcame many obstacles and discovered his passion for hair after being an at home stylist for several years.
A few years after graduating high school, Corey began his path towards a professional cosmetology license by enrolling at Franklin Beauty School, a renowned and historic beauty school in Texas. While enrolled as a student, Corey discovered a new home and foundation at Franklin Beauty School and excelled and soon became a school leader by mentoring freshman, winning various competitions and attending several hair shows throughout the Houston area.
Just months after enrolling at Franklin, Corey was casted by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) to be a part of the reality docu-series “Houston Beauty” where he received notoriety for his passion for hair and fiery personality. His out spoken personality and ambition to finish school carried him through the whole series, overcoming and completing every challenge he was faced with. Shortly after filming the series, Corey successfully completed school and became the only cast member of Houston Beauty to obtain his cosmetology license.
As a licensed stylist, Corey has quickly established clientele and is known for his creative hair designs, as well as passion to treat hair with love so it will remain healthy and manageable. In 2013, Corey was featured in Houston Style Magazine for his work and contribution to “Houston Beauty”. He has also received training and mentorship from various celebrity stylists. His clients have took a liking to his services whether it’s their natural appearing sew-ins, custom styles, colors or solid styling techniques that keep their hair healthy and flowing naturally.
Corey is actively involved in his church, charity work and helping families in need. He has contributed his hair services and donated to organizations providing services to single-parent homes and displaced individuals. Corey has volunteered at numerous events and partnered with celebrities and national organizations that make a difference.
In 2015, Corey opened his very first salon called Salon 1409 in Houston, TX and travels to national events and award shows as a freelance hair stylist.
Later that year, Corey was honored by his alma mata Franklin Beauty School alongside Tina Knowles for his work in the beauty industry and his community involvement.
In the fall of 2017, Corey got the attention of the producer’s of Lifetime’s Primetime new series “American Beauty Star” where he was casted to compete with some of the top hair stylists and makeup artists in the country for the chance to win $50,000 and to be apart of the beauty team for a photo shoot with Teen Vogue. Hosted by Supermodel Adriana Lima, and mentors former Vogue editor Sarah Brown, Celebrity photographer Russell James and Celebrity Makeup Artist Sir John, viewers watched Corey every week with his fiery personality and gifted hands, quickly knock out the competition and remained on the show until the finale where he came in at first runner-up and the breakout star.
A week after the premiere of American Beauty Star, Corey married the love of his life on a beautiful yacht with close friends and family.
In the future, Corey aspires to franchise Salon 1409, work as a platform artist, brand ambassador and educator.
Currently, Corey services clients in Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA and travels to national events and award shows as a freelance hair stylist.
